Watching 100 hours of video lectures creates an illusion of competence. GATE is an active problem-solving exam. The golden rule is: 1 hour of theory must be followed by at least 2 hours of solving PYQs without looking at solutions!

2. Ignoring Engineering Math & General Aptitude

Together, General Aptitude (15M) and Engineering Mathematics (13-15M) constitute nearly 30% of the entire paper. They have the highest scoring predictability. Students who neglect them rarely break into the top 500 ranks.
